BEAUTIFUL WOLVES - They Need Help

I'm not going to go on and on about animal rights and what we need to do. The main reason I'm writing this hub is because my little one who is seven has been very worried about animals (especially wolves) becoming "instinked." This is how she spelled the word "extinct" for her class diary at school and in her note she wrote just for me. It was so touching and her passion sort of came out of nowhere and it started growing daily. This was a few months ago.

At first it was, "Please mommy we need to do something!" I heard her loud and clear and I encouraged her to write about it and express herself in different art projects. So then she started to paint beautiful paintings of wolves and wrote her own illustrated books and then I adopted a wolf for her from a defense fund that protects wolves all over the world. She received her photo of the wolf, a certificate with her name on it and a stuffed wolf toy made out of natural materials and she was so happy! I thought to myself, surely this is just something that will probably go away or turn into something else. I was wrong.

Suddenly she is asking me if we could raise wolves or have our own reserve and I kindly told her maybe we can do that eventually, but it is a huge responsibility. That seemed to be fine for a while until one day she came to me and asked if we could visit different wolf reserves. So I searched on the internet and found one that is about 40 minutes from our home and I'm planning on taking her there soon in the next couple of weeks. She can't wait and reminds me every single day. A "whim" is not the word for this passion that is so strong in my seven year olds heart.

Another reason I'm writing about this is her passion has ignited mine and my love for Native American Indians who told me many stories about wolves when I was a child. It sort of goes together and I'm working on something we can both do to help wolves survive and also make my daughter continue with her passion for saving animals. Especially animals that would most likely scare young children. I mean whenever wolves are shown in children stories, they never make them "nice," do they? My little girl does not have any fear of them and embraces the idea that they are wild animals and this really makes me think about the world and what is happening.

I guess another reason I'm writing this is to bring attention to this matter and I hope that instead of people buying toys that do "nothing" for our planet but take up space, I'm hoping that they will donate to save wildlife, or any other animal that they are passionate about. If you want to buy a toy for your child, please consider all of the wildlife foundations and defense funds that give toys in exchange for donations to their cause. Afterall we do not want them all to disappear, do we? It would also be nice to introduce these animals to children in a positive way so they can get involved and help in some way as they get older.

My daughter now has a wolf club at school and a few of her friends have joined her in her cause. It may sound silly describing all of this and a seven year old who loves animals and has already started saving them. It may sound like a "whim" and just another young kid talking about something they want (like in a toy store), but I have never seen a child provoke so much change in such a short time. Her wolf club and others in her classroom are all aware of what is happening now and they all want to help. I have received e-mails from other parents about where they should donate for the cause.

It just goes to show you that "passion" and a love for something can change anything, nomatter what the age of the person is. I'm so proud of my little girl.
