JOHNNY DEPP - in the 80's

**disclaimer. Since I have recently been told that my hub is featured on some Johnny Depp forum where a lot of "young" fans seem to frequent, I decided to write something here. I will not publish comments from people who do not know WHO I am or seem to think this is not true. This hub is taken from my experiences with Johnny many years ago in the late 80's. Although some of the details may not be completely "spot on," I can assure you that this article is TRUE. I understand that most people or fans would not like it. But as you can see by the comments below, people find it interesting. I am writing from my real experiences. I am NOT a fan.

The Story Begins...........

I spent many days and nights with Johnny Depp in the late 80's. Instead of going into "outrageous" stories about things he did with me present, I thought I would give readers a "glimpse" into the real person beneath the film star in todays movies.

Without going into detail about "how I know him," I will give you tidbits about the old days and some of the stuff that happened in the beginning of his career. Nicolas Cage was the one who started his career and Johnny was living in his car with his bestfriend selling pens "way back when." When I met him he had only done one film (Elm Street) and he was really kind and called me by my private nickname often. He hated giving out his phone number to anyone even when he was not famous and he often changed his number to mess with people. He used to check into hotels under weird names and he was really not very good with women.

He really had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around and do some very strange things. I will stop there for now.

He adored his mother and bought her a house near by where he was acting in another country. When I saw his picture on the wall of him in Grade school I could not believe what a gorgeous kid he was. He looked like he was famous even then and he had lighter hair. He hated doing laundry and he used to have piles of dirty clothes in his hotel room. He often went out to buy new stuff instead of cleaning the "old stuff." Now I know this is not the best "visual" but I'm still keeping this funny and fair and still trying to indulge you. I never had a drink until he gave me one and it was one of the best alcoholic drinks ever. He had prepared it in three different colors layered on top and I could not believe how great it looked and tasted!

When we hung out in Miami for a few weeks, he took me to his favorite vintage antique clothing store where they hid little trinkets and "treasures" in the pockets of the clothing and I was there when he refused to show up for a press conference. I was also there when a young fan made a beeline for him from down the block and hyperventilated so badly that she passed out in front of us. We were going to dinner with friends and family and Johnny's mom was so concerned for the young girl that we waited until an ambulance came.

I really feel that Johnny was not comfortable in front of the camera in the old days and hated the attention. He used to talk of going to Italy and finding a girl who did not speak English and does not know who he is. Jennifer Grey once gave him a photo of her foot wrapped with a rose as a present. Let's leave that one there. I also hung with him when he was with Winona Ryder and that relationship was a weird one, let me tell you!

The main thing is that he always wanted to be a successful musician but as his acting career grew, agents and the "higher ups" squashed his music career. I heard a few of his tracks that he recorded at a friends studio many years ago and it was pretty good. I do feel that he got his sense of humor in his comedy roles from another actor who hung out with him in the beginning. It's ok to take stuff from people who you admire, but he did copy a lot from this particular entertainer and learned a lot from him.

Overall I liked Johnny a lot and still do (he has not changed much) and there is much more stuff I could talk about, but I wanted to give a little something to show "the beginning." As time goes by, I may decide to share more but for now I think this is a good appetizer!

In the begining he was not a very good actor but over time he has grown into a fantastic talent, but I will never forget the scared little boy who hid in the hotel room from press, threw little firecrackers with gun powder outside the door and refused to move from his bed.
