MY FAVORITE MOVIES - Some Of Them

Hard To Pick A Few..

For those of you who have read my book picks and reviews here before, I'm going to indulge you with some of my favorite movies. I feel that these sort of sum up who I am as a person. Wanted to share some of these just incase you are looking for something to rent and it is not a new movie. Beware! Some are a bit intense! I seem to go from comedy to very dramatic and dark situations. Not much inbetween! ha

I have always been a big comedy, sci-fi and romance fan. The comedy started out with my love for older Woody Allen films and Monty Python. Not all of them, but some of them stuck when I was in my teens and throughout my adulthood.

Let's Start With Woody Allen..

My two favorite films by Woody Allen are "Annie Hall" and "The Purple Rose Of Cairo." There are scenes in those two films that are priceless! I can relate to Annie Hall in some of the scenes. My favorite scene is when she and Woody Allen are in the kitchen. Also in the movie theater. The list goes on! I remember watching the "Purple Rose Of Cairo" and laughing so much! Especially when they broke the fourth wall. Hilarious!

Diane Keaton, Comedy and Love...

Everyone who really knows me is well aware I am a Diane Keaton fan. Not only does she remind me of myself, but her style, her many different talents and her "quirkiness" is what draws me to her. She is an inspiration for women who have many talents like myself. I can not think of a lot of women like her in the entertainment industry. She was already in the movie mentioned above (Annie Hall). I will cover my two favorite comedies here that are more recent. "Somethings Gotta Give" is by far one of my favorite movies of all time. It is a very funny love story and I love the casting in the film. The other movie that is more recent is "It's Complicated" starring Meryl Streep which seems to fit my current "life theme" these days. ha Both by the same Director Nancy Meyers. She is a genius with this sort of comedy!!

The Strange And Different...

Well, after seeing so many movies in my life it is funny to me which films actually stuck bigtime in my brain. I would have to say that quite a few films have left "Visual residual" in my mind for a long time. Who could ever get over "Blade Runner?" And ofcourse the visuals of the quirky film "Brazil" directed by Terry Gilliam from the original Monty Python crew. I still feel he is still very "underrated" for his amazing talent! I also liked his film "The Baron Of Muchausen." Any of these films are worth checking out.

Now A Bit Intense...

It is funny what leaves an impression when you are younger. When I was first starting out in the "romance department" as a young teenager in love, I learned a bit of what relationships do to people. When I was having my first experiences, I happened to see the movie "Maria's Lovers." I was crazy about the actor John Savage at the time and this movie was painful! Love and tragedy! Nastassja Kinski was also in it.

Another film that I have watched over and over again throughout the years is Diane Keaton's film that she directed called "Heaven." I have a copy and I watch it from time to time. It questions love, god and life itself. It always inspires me and makes me think!

One of the most recent films I rented and reviewed here is directed by David Bowie's son and it is called Moon. I reviewed it here because I really loved it. It is a bit dark but very intense and very interesting. I guess that is me sometimes! ha

There Are So Many More..

Well there are so many more I can mention if I really wanted to sit down and think of them all! The point is that these films "stuck" with me and I did not have to think at all! They are not all commercial choices and even though I can mention many more modern films, these are the one's that effected me most. I'm sure I will publish this and say "Oh No, I forgot about......." ha

I hope you enjoy these if you get a chance to watch any of them.

GP - We have something in common. I adore Diane Keaton, Monty Python and Nancy Meyers. And Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin were hysterical in the film, "It's Complicated." Thanks for reminding me.

I like this hub a lot. I rented Moon a few months ago. Great flick! One movie that stuck with me over 30 years was "The Lathe of Heaven". This movie was produced by PBS in 1979. It was remade in 2002. The remake was good, but the original is better. The original is VERY difficult to get hold of, but is well worth the effort. Thanks for a great hub (as usual)!!!

..obviously a classic pairing of Woody Allen movies - Annie Hall and Manhattan - Woody at his peak!

My favorite movie with Diane Keaton however - is the still timely and provocative - Looking for Mr. Goodbar!

(with a young Richard Gere) ... this film still holds up today!

I love Diane Keaton's song in "Radio Days", which is one of my favorite of Woody's lighter films because it is so full of love for his family, with all their faults. "Annie Hall" is my favorite, though. I also like the helium sequence in "Broadway Danny Rose."

Hey Ryan..thanks for stopping in!!! Yes, I agree...you mention some good scenes here...

I forgot about Broadway Danny Rose!!! Classic! Anyway, lovely to see you here...G
