A Story Of Love
Once upon a time way up on a yellow speckled hill, there was a flower that grew and grew but knew to stay very very still. For everyone wanted her and she stretched her petals to the sun, always wondering if she would ever meet or dance in the wind with everyone. She had seen her friends come and go when people saw her there. Her friends were way too beautiful so they were taken fair and square. She always wondered why she was left on the hill alone. So she left that up to God and the place that she called home.
A few had come and gone and when they came so very near, their eyes would just well up and they would step quickly back in fear. "She is way too beautiful," the man with the hat said again. "If I take her, she may never ever have a friend." So off he went to another place and gathered many other flowers and he always looked back at her for minutes and then hours. The flower would stand still as time passed her by, she wondered if she was picked would she ever get to fly? Would the wind take her on a trip to another place and time? Would she finally know how to live with another flowered vine?
Time passed quickly and she began to weep, the weather was changing and she could not get to sleep. Then suddenly out of nowhere on a day where there was no sun, a butterfly appeared and landed quickly on her tongue. Her petals tickled as the visitor jumped around and she could not control her laughter and tossed him to the ground. The butterfly jumped up again and came closer still and it began to circle her like he knew that he was the King of the hill.
The butterfly asked, "Can you please set yourself free?" The flower stared and said "No, I'm stuck here can't you see?" The butterfly hovered around and then looked her in the eye and when she saw him, she prayed that she could have just one day to fly. "You see, I'm stuck here in the ground and this is where I live." The butterfly said, "That is only your own story and a fib." The flower began to shake and told him that it was the truth and then he hovered closer and fed her all her youth.
"I see, he said. That is such a shame. What do you do when it begins to rain?" She looked at him and wondered why he even cared. She arched her stem and then she reached high into the air. "See! I have tried over and over again and every time I fail I always lose a friend." The butterfly laughed and said "Well beautiful, you can see that I'm still here." She looked around and wondered why he had suddenly appeared. "Well, you are lucky my friend because you are forever free. You can fly all over this pretty world and there is so much more to see." The butterfly fluttered his wings and then sadness overcame him. "The only time I feel free is when I'm carried by the wind."
The flower became quite still and didn't understand. "I would do anything to fly around and land in someone's hand." "Well," the butterfly said. "It is not always about love and sometime a hand can cause some pain." "Well," she said. "Sometimes it hurts when I'm stuck here in the rain."
They both stayed still and they both started to laugh, it seems that they were both relieved that they finally found their path. The butterfly stayed close and always flew quite near and when she began to weep, he wiped away her tears.
And so the story goes, they both stayed there for another year. And when they were gone, there stayed a flowered path where they held eachother dear.

Page, That was a perfectly lovely story. So sweet and poetic.
How completely wonderful. My two favorite things, bonding together and finding their own truth and their true love. Beautiful!
Enchanting and alluring is this poetic story - too bad people couldn't behave like flowers and butterflies .....
Absolutely beautiful. An enthralling piece G.

Another great hub from. I can say that this hub was excellent. I really impressed how you describe the love very well. Flower is always beautiful, my dear. And butterfly help the flower to send the love message from one flower to other flower, right. With my love I vote this hub. I hope this hub could share "love" message to others...amen.
